Hip Replacement Surgery

Carol was in constant pain and used crutches for three years. Now, after her total hip replacement, Carol is actively playing with her grandchildren, gardening, taking daily walks with her husband, and feels like there's nothing she can't do.

When you experience hip pain, it can keep you from doing the things you enjoy and make everyday life more difficult.  Put your trust in a surgeon who has sub-specialty training in treating hip injuries. We have an experienced team of more than 75 orthopaedic surgeons, doctors, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, with many offering sub-specialized care for hip pain in six locations across New Hampshire.

Latest Treatments and Procedures

We offer a wide variety of treatment options from physical therapy to the newest minimally invasive, muscle-sparing procedures for a shorter recovery time and less pain during recovery, as well as the latest in non-surgical options.

Some of the most common treatments we offer include:

  • Hip arthroscopy
  • Hip osteotomy
  • Hip resurfacing (Lebanon)
  • Mini-posterolateral total hip replacement
  • Partial hip replacement
  • Total hip replacement and revision surgery: posterior, lateral, or anterior approach (anterior approach available at Lebanon, Manchester and Nashua only)
  • Non-surgical treatments: medications, injections, viscosupplementation, physical therapy, walking aids, weight management, exercise program

Supporting You Along the Way

Our team is here to give you all of the information you need to make the best decision to fit your lifestyle and your goals.

We offer a joint replacement education program at all of our locations.  This free education class, or “joint camp,” is designed for patients to help them learn what to expect before, during and after surgery and how to prepare ahead of time.

After surgery, we offer physical therapy options to give you the best outcome possible. Our nurses are here to answer your questions along the way as well.

  • Better Than Before Surgery

Dr. Carr was the right surgeon for me. He described all possible treatment options, talked with me about outcomes and how many ACL surgeries he's performed. I credit Steve Vincente, my physical therapist, in getting me on the road to recovery. His positive energy made all the difference. I am happy to say my knee is not only as good as it was before, it's better. Hannah Kearney / 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion freestyle skier
  • No Big Deal

The most surprising thing about having a complete hip replacement was that it really wasn't a big deal. I'd say all through the journey, from surgery to recovery, you've got to remember it takes some effort. There is some discomfort, but it was well worth it and I won't hesitate again to have my right one done. Ted Davis / Total Hip Patient
  • What Surprised Me the Most

I didn't know I could do what I can do now and that's what surprised me the most. At my age and with the injuries I had, I thought I was done. Being able to sit straight up is a big deal. Being able to nod my head, twist it side-to-side...that's a really, really big deal. I wasn't able to do those things when I got here. Derek Hampton / Functional Restoration Program graduate
  • Achieving Your Goals

Now I know I can go out and rip turns and feel awesome and feel completely normal again. I felt like the sports medicine department can relate to you...and help you achieve the goals that you want to get back to, and my goals were to get back into ski racing and back to lacrosse, and I've done that thus far. Gunnar / ACL Repair Surgery
